Cirkla, Belmark and Ossid launch world’s first resealable fibre-based food tray

Gainesville, Georgia, USA – 12 October 2026: Cirkla, Belmark and Ossid have jointly announced the launch of what they describe as the world’s first commercially scalable resealable fibre-based food tray packaging solution, combining moulded fibre trays, peel-and-reseal lidding film and automated sealing technology for fresh proteins, produce, ready meals and other food applications.

The companies describe the development as the first commercial-scale integration of resealable lidding film with fibre-based trays. The solution combines Cirkla’s high-performance fibre trays, Belmark’s resealable film technology and Ossid’s ReeMaster NextGen Automatic Tray Sealer.

According to Cirkla, its fibre trays can reduce plastic waste by up to 90% while maintaining shelf-life performance, barrier properties and durability. The trays have been validated on major tray-sealing systems in the US, including Ossid equipment, without requiring additional capital investment or production-line modifications.

“Resealable fiber packaging has been one of the industry’s most sought-after innovations and it took the right partners to make it real,” said Glenn Divers, Vice President of Sales, Cirkla. Belmark developed the lidding film technology to enable repeated peeling and resealing without damaging the fibre tray’s protective liner.

Ossid’s ReeMaster NextGen system features servo-driven indexing conveyors, side grippers and a stainless-steel, washdown-ready design. It supports top-seal, Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) and Vacuum Skin Packaging (VSP) applications, with touchscreen-based recipe management for production changeovers.

“Bringing resealable functionality to a fiber tray required expertise across materials, film, and equipment, and each partner played an important role,” said Jason Vandeloo, Director of Business Development, Belmark.

Cirkla also plans to commence operations at its first US manufacturing facility in Gainesville, Georgia, in the first quarter of 2027. The packaging solution is scheduled for demonstration at The Global Produce and Floral Show in Orlando, Florida, from 14–16 October, followed by Pack Expo in Chicago from 18–21 October 2026.
